Scandinavians have always greatly appreciated the value of living in genuine timber homes. Never have so many old wooden houses been so meticulously restored as they are today. Genuine materials have a strong impact on our quality of life. For those who have lived in wooden houses for generations, their faith is wood is unshakable.

Scandinavia and Norrland's inland region--with its dry climate, four distinct seasons, distance to the sea, and protection from the mountains--provides pine and spruce with ideal conditions, the way nature intended.

Just there—in that climate, in that soil, the summers are warm and the winters just cold enough.

Spruce does not do best in a humid coastal climate. Warm summers and cold, dry winters create ideal conditions.

From this comes the Swedish saying: “give me the right soil and the right climate and I'll make you rich”.

Spruce thrives on the plains. Though the wood from the slopes is of a somewhat lower standard, the trees on the hilltops are of the highest quality.

After 90 years, a well-tended spruce is ready for harvest. The land-owner who plants his spruce today is making a long-term investment. For generation after generation, his descendants will gratefully support themselves from his plant – food for thought in an age when people aim to “make a killing” and a society of consumers willingly mortgages future generations’ possibilities to live from, and with, nature.

Central Norrland's inland region is Sweden’s premiere pine and spruce region.

Just like olive oil and wine, many factors influence the end product. For just that reason, one can never say for certain that conditions are always best in one particular place. Too much or too little cold, heat, rain, drought, etc., can all impact on quality – either negatively or positively. Management and careful planning are crucial.

And just as the example of wine has taught us, the quality of a product cannot solely be judged by the label it bears. We have to use, take advantage of, and learn about the quality the wood can provide.

We listen to our senses and gradually learn to identify both obvious and subtle nuances that let us determine the best possible characteristics and help us make high quality wood from our region into an individual, a unique creation.

Skilled workers process the wood after felling; a trade which has often been passed down from generation to generation. A trained eye, with knowledge gained through experience, can manage the sorting process to determine how the wood is to be used  From high-end wine crates to the most luxurious bank furnishings in Casablanca, from exclusive furniture in Norway to the most lavish 'Cabin', - it is all about quality of life. It’s good enough to even be used in the meticulous restoration of a Medelpad homestead. And every  Volvo engine is delivered on a certified EUR pallet,of old-growth spruce.- As you can see, the possible uses are many.

Consider the many applications for our family's product. Mitthem in central Scandinavia has done so, as have bridge builders in Austria, the Picasso Museum in Malaga, and architects for the railway station in Kiel and the airport in Gardemoen. The knowledge of many generations combined with ultramodern technology and a new generation of craftsmen ensures development continues, without the loss of quality or age-ols knowledge.
